Three interesting tours are being offered, taking in Hamburg, Lüneburg and Lübeck. Each includes lunch and is accompanied by a professional English-speaking guide. Each tour departs from the CCH.
Tuesday 28 September: Hamburg city tour (duration: 7 hours) - Price: This tour is included in the Accompanying persons' registration fee. Starting with a coach ride along the banks of the Alster lake and passing the picturesque residences of former wealthy inhabitants of Hamburg, the tour continues through the town centre, pausing for a mid-day organ concert in the beautiful St. Michaels' Lutheran church. A light lunch in the Restaurant Ratsweinkeller is followed by a two-hour boat trip on the Alster canals. There is so much to see and enjoy in Hamburg that those who have taken Technical Tour No 5. on Monday will find that there is no overlap whatsoever between the two tours.
Wednesday 29 September: Visit to Lüneburg (duration: 8 hours) - Price: € 65 (incl. VAT). Thanks to its excellent location along the historic Salt Road, at a time when salt was more valuable than gold, by the 16th century Lüneburg had become one of the richest cities in Northern Germany. After a walk in the historical town centre with its old half-timbered houses and a visit to the impressive Town Hall with its magnificent ceiling frescoes, a light lunch will be served in one of the town's charming restaurants. The tour will continue with a visit to the famous salt museum and a stroll through the city's picturesque streets.
Thursday 30 September: Visit to Lübeck (duration: 8 hours) - Price: € 75 (incl.VAT). The sightseeing tour will lead through Lübeck's medieval town centre, an extensive area of well preserved buildings and streets built during the heyday of the Hanseatic League, which has been awarded the title of world culture monument by UNESCO. A salad lunch will be served in the "Schifferbörse", where in former times the captains and crews of the international trading ships carrying goods like salt from Lüneburg dined. Here very interesting models of ships from former times are displayed. A day in Lübeck cannot be complete without a taste of the world-famous Lübecker Marzipan in one of the exclusive cafés. The Lübeck excursion will also include a boat trip from the town to Hamburg's "Gate to the Baltic Sea", the seaside resort of Travemünde, with its famous beach and harbour facilities.
